Squirrel are actually
a formidable swimmer!
With their big and powerful rear legs,
they can swim quite fast.
Although they won't take a swim
for a casual skinny dip,
they will swim out to collect nuts,
algae and other food sources that have falling or are located in the water.
They will also use water as an escape route,
from for example, cats and other predators,
that doesn't swim.
