The in-depth story of Mamma Coco

This was way before social media,

so recordings and pictures are limited.

Coco and Tiger came from a very tiny apartment,

from a family of 3 soon to be 4.

They didn't have room for them

and they were scheduled to be euthanized if nobody took them.

Obviously, Nicole and I took them.

They were about 4 years old and they were both heavily overweight,

had osteoporosis, very weak bones, due to lack of movement.

Tiger was obviously the strongest and Coco had trouble recovering.

She immediately started on a special diet for the osteoporosis and arthritis,

she was also on pain medication to overcome all these issues.

Tiger recovered perfectly and he lost the majority of his weight but Coco,

she continued to struggle.

Both Coco and Tiger were sterilized but regardless, Coco's motherly instincts were extremely strong.

She would cuddle, wash and care for teddies,

until she found dead animals, she would nurse them, try to revive them and she would be heartbroken if I took them away from her,

she would refuse to eat for days after.

So, it was with absolute zero concern, when I handed Tintin, to Coco's care while I was calling around for help.

Right I was and I had never seen Coco as happy as she was in that moment.

She purred so loud, you could hear it in the whole apartment,

you could literally feel her purring, in the floorboards.

Finally, she had her very own baby!

It didn't matter what it looked like, as long as she could finally be, a mother.

This was her baby, there were doubts about it.

Her brother Tiger, accepted this immediately.

She would stick to Tintin like glue,

every meal and every wound cleaning was closely observed and accompanied with loud purring and afterwards,

it was cuddle time with Mamma and Tintin.

But alas, Coco's condition didn't improve.

The vet and I, pushed the limits of Coco's pain relief but within safety limits,

so she could finish her motherhood.

Sure enough, as soon as Coco was confident that Tintin would be just fine,

she slept in peacefully.

Good job Mamma Coco,

mission completed,

rest your soul baby girl.

I'm sure you and Tintin

are cuddling up right now,

in the velvet fields,

just beyond the rainbow bridge.
